I vaguely remember you were going to post how to knit a heel sample. You had it on a foot mannequin. I think this would help me in knitting heel samples with your adjustable numbers now. Thanks for all of your hard work, you make so many people happy (including yourself!)

Just went back again to view this video and was thinking about the self-striping yarn in the helical knit. I suppose you couldn't use a SS yarn that has a white section in it with the white alternating, right? So, i.e, choose one that has now white in its' stripes?

I use dpns and always divided the heel and heel flap stitches on one needle- the instep on one needle and the 3rd needle will hold the heel stitches and heel flap sts . I can not manage two circs but and this may be asking too much but I’d love to see this done on magic loop. I started the cuff and leg and heel flap and heel turn on double but I was completely lost on the pick ups so I went back to my comfort zone dpns. 😊

Question? Do you knit thru the back loop (both sides) only on the heel flap stitches and only on the first decrease round. Does this video go with your no fear pattern? I’ve just knitted 10 heel stitches placed the marker and picked up 16+1 down the first side. I’m using magic loop so it can get confusing. Thank you. I love all your videos.

I have occasionally picked up knitting in order to make extremely simple projects made up of various rectangles, but never really understood it. So, just recently, I decided to learn crochet. And that totally clicked for me, almost right away. I've made around 6 pairs of socks (and some other projects), and became a little obsessed. I love crochet, and I love socks. But, then I learned that knitted socks are generally better, for a variety of different reasons. And, trying to crochet socks with only front and/or back loops is pretty limiting. 😅 So, I decided to learn continental knitting (originally learned from English knitters), and sock knitting, specifically. I'm basically starting from scratch. I had to take around a month to just get used to making stockinette and ribbing rectangles with continental positioning. Now, it's time to actually try to make something. I really appreciate how you explain things. As a total newbie, it has been incredibly helpful. TYTYTY!

How should I do the turn across 20 stitches? 7 and 7 on each end and 6 in the middle?

Thank you for your in depth instructions. I’m knitting “shorty” socks with a contrasting little cuff. The heel starts directly after the cuff. For the main yarn I’m using a striped yarn. Would you suggest using a solid contrasting yarn for the Shadow Wrapped Heel and then using my striped yarn for the foot? I’m thinking that the stripes would look a little weird in the heel?

Just wondering if you can demonstrate how to catch color changes when you knit continental. Also can you do a larger cuff and then a smaller leg and foot?

Its so pretty! Im doing my 2nd ever pair of socks and I (foolishly?) decided to have contrasting heels and toes. At what point after the heel turn do I revert to my main color? 😅

thank you so much for this tutorial - every time I did a german short row I had holes; my first one with this technique and none! Do you happen to have a small pattern that tells us how to make that little swatch? I think it might be helpful for sizing my mom's socks before committing to half a sock LOL

Hello Denise, I wonder, could one change color and weaving in the ends just at any place in the round, as in scrappy socks for example? Or is it best doing it exactly at the beginning of a round? 🌸

Denise, You are such a lovely sweetheart. It is now July of 2024 (!) My New Year’s resolution was to learn to knit socks. I’d better get on it! I’ve printed the pattern and dug some Berroco “Vintage Sock” out of my abundant yarn stash…. I’ve ordered your recommended needles but, in the meantime, I’ll try using the 32” ChiaoGoos (2.25) that I already have. I’m excited! And grateful. And, a bit trepidatious. 🥰🧶 🧦

Everything you said about why you choose to knit short row heels is exactly how I also feel. This is the one & only heel I've ever tried too. Never felt the need to try other heels when I love the feel, fit, & look of this heel style.
